The “Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols” was successfully held on 23rd December 2023 at 6 p.m. at Union Church, Welisara. This traditional Christmas service featured nine Bible readings (lessons) interspersed with a variety of Christmas carols and hymns.
- The program saw participation from the choir, congregation, youth fellowship, and Sunday school, with carols sung in English, Tamil, and Sinhala.
- Prayers were offered, and meaningful messages were delivered by Rev. Bernard Bocks and Rev. Joseph Andrady. Special items were presented by the youth fellowship and Sunday school.
- The service concluded with a reading of the Scripture on the Incarnation (John 1:1-14), a Benediction by Rev. Joseph Andrady, and the choir’s performance of the doxology, followed by the recessional hymn “Silent Night.”
The church also paid tribute to the late Mr. Guy Seneviratne, Mrs. Christine Seneviratne, and Mr. Randy Rajaratnam for their service to the choir. The congregation was thanked for their presence, with warm wishes for a blessed and joyful Christmas.
